About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The iScientist serves as a repository for excellent work produced by students and alumni of the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences (SIS) at McMaster University. We seek to publish original research, reviews, and short commentaries produced by students in the course of their undergraduate education. Our focus, like that of SIS itself, is broad and interdisciplinary. We aim to publish work at the boundaries between the traditional scientific disciplines or work that examines issues from a number of scientific perspectives.

Peer Review Process

All research and review articles that appear on The iScientist will have been peer reviewed by two reviewers, all of whom are students or alumni of the School of Interdisciplinary Sciences or programs in the Science Faculty. Reviewers are asked to look at the originality of the work produced, the rigorousness of the methods used and the validity of the conclusions reached. Editors will also briefly review the work for appropriateness for publication on The iScientist. In certain cases, submitted papers may be forwarded to an appropriate faculty member or instructor for additional input after the initial peer review. Reviewers are typically asked to complete their reviews in two weeks time.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
