Abstract

Humans are social beings and often help each other in times of need. This instinct to help other is known as altruism is an adaptation are relies on a number of factors such as relation of the actor to the individual they are helping and the costs and benefits of their altruistic act. One must only be altruistic if the benefits of the act outweighs the costs.
