Abstract

This is a precis based on a talk by Daphne Maurer titled Pretty Ugly: Why we like some songs, faces, foods, plays, pictures, poems, etc., and dislike others. In her talk, Maurer uses research in developmental psychology to explain why humans find some things beautiful and others ugly.
