About the Journal

Introduction to the Journal

The Child Health Interdisciplinary Literature and Discovery (CHILD) Journal was created by students in the Child Health Specialization (CHS) of the Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) Program at McMaster University. Managed by third-year students in the specialization, with guidance from CHS Instructors and Facilitators, the journal aims to showcase the work of students within the specialization.

The focus of The CHILD is to showcase the in-depth knowledge, collaborative projects, talents and ideas of CHS students. Each year, students in their third year of the specialization will lead the development and publishing process. Article types such as perspective and opinion pieces, reviews, and general commentaries may be found in the journal. Students in all years of the Child Health Specialization are invited to contribute work highlighting a range of topics in child health and development.

Peer Review

The CHILD has an open review policy. Reviewers will be recruited by the journal team, with support from CHS Instructors and Facilitators, and may include upper-year students and alumni of the BHSc Program. Each reviewer will be asked to evaluate content, tone, and scientific accuracy. The CHILD Team will facilitate the feedback implementation process by reaching out to the respective authors. Once feedback has been addressed, finalized articles will be resubmitted for publication.
