Dear Reader,

Welcome to Volume 3, Issue 1 of the McMaster University Journal of Public Health!

Public health is rooted in the connection between individuals, communities, lived experiences, and real-world impact. This issue reflects that interconnectedness through a diverse collection of student erudition that engages with pressing public health challenges from a variety of perspectives.

This issue showcases written pieces that explore social determinants of health, evaluate policies, and examine the complex systems shaping local and global health outcomes. The curiosity and critical thinking of the featured authors are quite evident, demonstrating a commitment to asking distinctive questions and seeking thoughtful, evidence-based answers.

This publication would not be possible without the dedication of our editorial team, peer reviewers, and peripheral board. I would also like to thank Lovejeet Manger (Peripheral Board Managing Editor) and Om Patel (Editorial Board Managing Editor) for all of their hard work.

To our readers, thank you for engaging with our journal. I hope this issue encourages you to think critically about the challenges we face as a collective and the solutions we can strive toward. It is always important to consider how we can translate our knowledge into action and play a part in shaping healthier communities.

Sincerely,

Carmen Kalo

Editor-in-Chief
