Résumé

An essay exploring the psychological determinants of conspiracy belief. Explores how adverse life circumstances can lead to conspiracy beliefs from three angles: Poor social standing, feelings of collective narcissism, and societal threats to control. Concludes that conspiracies arise because individuals feel they do not have control over their lives and posits that increasing control may help decrease conspiracy beliefs.
