About the Journal

Journal History

The McMaster Undergraduate Journal of Social Psychology was founded in 2019 by Namya Tandon, a fourth-year undergraduate student in the Honours Social Psychology program. The faculty advisor for the journal, Dr. Sarah Clancy, is a faculty member in the Honours Social Psychology program who supervises the capstone research projects that Social Psychology students complete in the final year of the program in the course, Social Psychology 4ZZ6: Social Psychology Research Project.

Focus and Scope of Journal

The McMaster Undergraduate Journal of Social Psychology showcases and highlights the work of undergraduate students in their final year of the Honours Social Psychology Program who have completed their capstone research projects. Students in the capstone course apply their learned knowledge and skills to conduct a group research project in their area of interest. In doing so, students are granted the opportunity to apply a range of quantitative and qualitative research methods relevant to the field of social psychology and gain a critical understanding of major relevant theoretical perspectives. They are thus able to assess the relationship between theory and practice.

The primary aim of the McMaster Undergraduate Journal of Social Psychology is to recognize the academic excellence of final year Social Psychology students by providing them with an opportunity to have their original work published in a journal. All students who have completed the capstone course will have the opportunity to submit their final research projects to the journal, provided they align with the authorship and submission guidelines. Submissions are reviewed by Dr. Sarah Clancy, the faculty advisor of the McMaster Undergraduate Journal of Social Psychology and supervisor of the capstone research projects, as part of the process of completing the capstone course. No other editing or review will be undertaken by any faculty members in the Honours Social Psychology Program, including Dr. Clancy, after the conclusion of the capstone course in April of each academic year.
