Literature Review
What is a literature review?
A literature review serves as an overview of published primary literature on a specific topic. While not a summary of the published literature, it establishes an innovative perspective on a given topic by commenting on established works and ideas and interconnecting them. In other words, it's the analysis of existing literature through the lens of, in the case of Student Mind, educational psychology.
Literature Review Requirements:
Title Page: Include the title of the submitted work, followed by a list of all authors in order of their contribution, from most to least. For each author, also provide their school, campus address, program, and year of graduation, using Arabic numeral superscripts for organization. Additionally, include the email address of only one corresponding author, marked with an asterisk (*) superscript next to their name.
Lay Summary: Provide a concise summary of the work tailored for a lay audience. Be sure to highlight key elements such as the motivation behind the study, the main results, and the broader societal impact of the findings. This summary should be distinct from the abstract and accessible to non-experts.
Abstract & Keywords: Provide a concise outline of the review, focusing on the key elements and the significance of the work. Additionally, list 4-6 keywords that effectively represent the main themes and focus of the manuscript.
Introduction: Give an overview of the main concepts, essential terms, and key practices within the field. Explain its primary focus and foundational ideas to help readers understand the field's purpose and relevance.
Body: The body of the review should consist of the main content, organized into sections and subsections for clarity. Use Arabic numerals to structure the text (e.g., 1. Cognitive Development Theories, 1.1. Piaget's Stages of Development), ensuring a logical and coherent flow throughout the review. Each section should be well-developed and focused on specific aspects of the topic.
Conclusion: Provide an overview of the key insights and findings discussed in the review, highlighting their significance. Additionally, outline limitations and potential next steps or future directions for research in the field.
Acknowledgements: Include details regarding funding sources, potential conflicts of interest, equal authorship contributions (if applicable), and any other forms of support received. If there are no acknowledgments, simply state "No acknowledgements" in this section.
References: List all references using APA 7 citation format, ensuring that every reference cited in the text is included in the reference list, and vice versa. Strive to use the most recent sources, with references typically no older than 10 years. If an exception is needed for older references, please email studentmindjournal@gmail.com for approval.
Figures and Tables (Optional): Add these with the utmost relevance in mind. If the figure is from an external source make sure to source it following APA 7 format.
The review should be 1000 to 3000 words in length
